FAQ’s for New Hampshire Art Educators’ Association Members:
Why should I join NHAEA?
We are the only community of art educators in the state. If you are the only visual arts educator in your school, you will find many opportunities to network, share and learn from other art educators: at our annual conference, regional workshops and an annual reception. You will also have the opportunity to submit student work to the newsletter, web page and the annual Youth Art Month show. Also, new teacher effectiveness models (Such as the "Danielson' model) include "Participation in a Professional Community" as one of the components of professional responsibility. NHAEA members also receive a discount on continuing education classes at the New Hampshire Institute of art. (**add other benefits here?)
When should I register to become a NHAEA member ?
The membership runs from September 1-August 31. No matter when you send in your check and registration form you will only be a member till the expiration date of August 31st of the same year. For maximum benefits it would be best to sign up in late August early September.
Who do I contact to get my membership number ?
You will receive your number several weeks after you send in your membership paperwork. If you lose your card or forget your number you can contact our membership person: Diane Varney Parker. Visit our Board of Directors page for list of committee chair people and contacts.
How do I present at your conference and are presenters paid?
The call for presenters goes out in the spring and is typically due by June 30. If you offer to present and at least 5 people sign up for your workshop, your cost to attend the conference is free.
Why doesn’t NHAEA accept Purchase Orders ?
NHAEA is run by a board of volunteers. Time and cost of billing people is less efficient than having payment sent at time of registration. It is best if your check and registration forms arrive together to avoid delay and confusion of school payments made separately. However you NOW can register for our conference online and use paypal.
Where will I find current events and up to date changes for the NHAEA ?
Our newsletter and web page are best for current info. Also visit us
on Facebook: New Hampshire Art Educators Association
Who do I contact to advertise in your newsletter or web page?
Contact Brandie Pettus at email@example.com Full institutional members receive a quarter page ad in each newsletter, an ad and link on our web page, and can send a representative and/or have a table at our fall conference. In addition to full Institutional membership, individual ad space may be purchased on a by- issue basis.
How do I become involved in the NHAEA ?
Contact anyone on the Executive Board. We would love to have more people on our Executive Board and Full Board. If you are new to the organization you could start by becoming a regional rep. for your district.
